The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali, conducted an official field visit today to inspect the ongoing construction of the National Data Center, which is now nearing completion.
This visit, the second of its kind by the Minister since the project’s commencement, was accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Farah Abdinur Ahmed. The primary purpose of the visit was to accelerate the pace of the project and oversee the final preparations of this critical facility, which is designated to serve as the central repository for Somalia’s government data.
During the inspection, H.E. Minister Mohamed thoroughly toured the premises, examining each section of the facility. Engineers overseeing the project provided the Minister with detailed briefings on the construction status and the projected timeline for completion.
The Minister urged the engineering teams and the implementing company to ensure timely and high-quality completion of the project, stressing the urgency of operationalizing the center to support government service delivery.
Once completed, the National Data Center will store all essential data of government institutions, eliminating the need to host Somali government data outside the country. The facility will serve as a foundational component of the government’s broader goal to establish a secure and resilient digital infrastructure.
