The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali, today held an important meeting with H.E. Wang Yu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia. The meeting, held at the Minister’s office and attended by the Ministry’s Director General, Mr. Farah Abdinoor Ahmed, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding development opportunities between the two countries.
Ambassador Wang Yu praised the consistent efforts of the Minister and Ministry staff and spoke in depth about the historic and long-standing relationship between Somalia and China. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Somalia, particularly in education and technology. The Ambassador noted Somalia’s rapid progress in the technology sector, with China’s educational scholarships playing a key role in developing the skills of Ministry personnel.
For his part, Minister Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali briefed the Ambassador on the Ministry’s key activities and its close cooperation with the Chinese Embassy. He highlighted China’s significant contribution to Somalia’s technological development and the ongoing collaboration between the two sides.
The Minister expressed special appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for its role in providing fully funded educational scholarships to some Ministry staff. He called for increasing these scholarships and expanding exchange programs between the two countries’ ministries to further strengthen cooperation in education and technology.
The Minister also stressed the need for both sides to jointly work on programs to enhance staff capacity and promote effective cooperation between Somalia and China.
This meeting reflects the two nations’ commitment to further strengthen their strategic partnership, particularly in technology and capacity development, with China being one of the world’s leading technological nations.
