The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Adan Moalim (Soomaali), took part in the high-level ministerial roundtable during the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20), held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the summit focused on enhancing access to modern technology and advancing digital services in developing countries, with particular attention to the African continent.
In his remarks, Minister Soomaali highlighted the following key national developments:
🔹 The approval of the National Digital Inclusion Policy (January 2025)
🔹 The rollout of the Digital Government Policy, aimed at ensuring every citizen can access government services in a secure, digital format and in the Somali language
Minister Soomaali reaffirmed Somalia’s full commitment to becoming an integral part of the global digital society and expressed gratitude to the ITU and participating nations for their support and cooperation.
He emphasized Somalia’s readiness to align with global digital transformation trends, while advancing its own inclusive, citizen-centric digital public services through open, modern, and locally adapted systems.
In conclusion, Minister Maxamed Adan underscored Somalia’s determination to emerge as a compelling example of how a recovering nation can meaningfully contribute to the global digital economy by leveraging robust connectivity and clear, forward-looking digital strategies.
