Beijing, China, Thursday, August 1, 2024: The Minister of Communication and Technology of Somalia, Hon. Mohamed Adam Moalim, accompanied by an official delegation, visited the National Data Management Center in Beijing, the capital of China. The Minister and his delegation were cordially received by the Center’s officials, who provided a comprehensive briefing on the range of services offered and the Center’s vital role within the Chinese government.
This facility, the largest of its kind in China, is responsible for managing government data, monitoring the nation’s economic infrastructure, executing the national electronic program, delivering digital services, and coordinating networks across the country.
Minister Mohamed Adam Moalim highlighted the significance of this visit for advancing Somalia’s digital government services. He acknowledged the progress made by the Ministry in implementing e-governance and inclusive digital policies, remarking, “We have gained invaluable insights from this center. It is an honor to observe how digital services can significantly facilitate the daily functions performed for the public.”
In conclusion, the Minister provided a general overview of Somalia’s digital initiatives and e-government services to the Center’s officials. He expressed his deep appreciation for the gracious reception and the informative nature of the visit.
The Government of Somalia has successfully enacted the National Data Protection Law and established a dedicated workforce to safeguard national data.
