Mogadishu, Thursday, October 17, 2024: The Minister of Communications and Technology, H.E.Mohamed Adan Macalin Ali (Somali) officially inaugurated the Somali Financial Technology Exhibition today, organized by Hormuud Telecommunications Company.
Now in its third year, the exhibition focuses on analyzing the country’s financial technology landscape. The event brought together representatives from the government, the Chamber of Commerce, telecommunications companies, banks, university leaders, ICT experts, and other stakeholders interested in technological advancements.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Mohamed emphasized the vital role of financial technology in driving the nation’s economic growth. He stated, “Financial technology plays a significant role in the economic development of the country. We are committed to establishing regulations that safeguard Somali entrepreneurs who have made substantial investments in advancing financial technology in Somalia, as well as measures to protect businesses operating within the country.”
Throughout the Somali Financial Technology Exhibition, various academic discussions related to technology and finance will be held. This year’s event particularly aims to explore the future direction of technological transformation within the country.
