Mogadishu, Wednesday, November 20, 2024: The Minister of Communications and Technology, Hon. Mohamed Adan Moalim Ali Somali, welcomed a delegation led by the Head of UNDP Somalia, Mr. Leonel, along with other senior officials from the UNDP Somalia office, to the Ministry’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and UNDP to accelerate the development and advancement of Somalia’s digital infrastructure. During the discussions, the delegation outlined UNDP’s readiness to support the Ministry in its mission to enhance the country’s digital transformation and to establish mechanisms for close collaboration in achieving this goal.
Mr. Leonel, Head of UNDP Somalia, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to assisting the Ministry in promoting digital development. He emphasized that UNDP views the Ministry’s work in communications and technology as a cornerstone of Somalia’s progress and pledged that the organization would prioritize supporting initiatives to improve the country’s digital infrastructure.
Minister Mohamed Somali thanked the delegation for their visit and their dedication to fostering technological progress in Somalia. He reiterated his commitment to enhancing the country’s digital landscape, stating:
“The Ministry is determined to build a robust and innovative digital infrastructure that will serve as the foundation for Somalia’s technological growth. Collaborating with partners like UNDP ensures that we can leverage expertise and resources to achieve tangible results for our nation.”
The Minister also emphasized the importance of utilizing international expertise to advance Somalia’s digital agenda and highlighted the Ministry’s strategic focus on fostering partnerships that can contribute to sustainable technological development.
