MINISTERIAL CONSULTATION WITH NATIONAL DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY OFFICIALS.

Mogadishu, April 22, 2024 – In a significant step towards bolstering data protection in Somalia, H.E. Minister of Communications and Technology, Hon. Mohamed Adam Moalim Ali, held an introductory and briefing meeting with top officials from the National Data Protection Authority (NDPA) at the ministry’s headquarters.
During this strategic meeting, Deputy Director of NDPA, Mr. Da’ud Abdi shigaye, presented a comprehensive update on the agency’s initiatives and operational framework, NDPA established recently with critical mandate of safeguarding the private information of Somali citizens.
H.E. Minister MP Mohamed Somali expressed his gratitude towards the efforts of the NDPA officials in establishing robust data protection mechanisms. He underscored the importance of ensuring the confidentiality and security of the private information of Somali citizens, noting that such measures are vital for maintaining public trust and compliance with international data protection standards.
The NDPA, a pivotal body under the Ministry of Communications and Technology, is charged with the task of preventing the misuse of personal data and ensuring that such information is not exploited for unlawful purposes.
