(Mogadishu – June 06, 2017) The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Technology has officially announced that the Ministry is offering domain and email services based on Somalia’s country-code top-level domain (dotSO).
This is part of Ministry’s 90-day plan to repatriate the country registry, which was unanimously endorsed by the Council Ministers in April 2017. Through a phased manner, we will provide the services to federal states, educational institutions and the general public to better utilize this important resource that will support the ICT development in the country.
H.E. Eng Abdi Ashur Hassan, minister for Posts, Telecom and Technology, said that bringing dotSO services under the management of the Ministry was one of his priorities. “We were able to put a plan for its operations and we are still on track. I thank the President, Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for their support to our plan,” said the Minister.
“DotSO is our identity on the Internet and using it will improve government image and both internal and external communications as well as help us leave institutional memory” concluded the Minister.
